The Translational Immunology group within the Translational Medicine/Preclinical Safety Department in Basel, Switzerland is looking for a highly motivated scientist to join our interdisciplinary team.
Our group supports all phases of the drug development from target validation, lead optimization, clinical profiling, drug registration and beyond. We focus on the safety assessment of compounds aiming to de-risk potential immunosafety liabilities prior to human studies and to elucidate the mechanistic basis of immunotoxicities observed in either non-clinical or clinical studies
The Research Scientist will support in vitro experimentation using both preclinical models and samples derived from clinical trials. The studies will utilize state-of-the-art technologies and will provide an ideal environment for professional development while contributing to the development of safe and efficient medicines for patients in need.
Apprenticeship, bachelor or master-s degree in immunology, cell biology
Research Scientist I:1-3 years of experience working in a laboratory in the pharmaceutical industry or academia.
Research Scientist II: 3-5 years of experience working in a laboratory in the pharmaceutical industry or academia.
Proficient in a variety of cell biology laboratory methods including cell culture of primary immune cells.
Proficient in the design and conductance multi-colour flow cytometry experiements. Good knowledge of flow cytometry analysis software (e.g. FlowJo, OMIQ) is required.
Fluency in English with the ability to communicate data and ideas within large and small teams.
Research Scientist I: Familiarity handling large, multi-parametric, data sets for reports and presentation.
Research Scientist II: Demonstratable experience handling large, multi-parametric, data sets for reports and presentation. Bioinformatics experience and knowledge of R would be advantageous.
Ability to learn and combine new techniques and concepts to perform exploratory activities at risk.
Strong motivation and ability to work independently, good record keeping with an aptitude to work collaboratively within different cross-functional teams.
Scientific curiosity, initiative, commitment, flexibility, and good organizational skills.
Nice to have - Experience with mouse and rat handling, diverse application methods and necropsy skills (ideally holding a LTK1 or equivalent certificate)
Candidates with a PhD/MD will not be considered for this position.
