In Global Discovery Chemistry (GDC) at the Biomedical Research in Basel, Switzerland, we are at the core of Novartis- purpose, designing and making new molecules for treating patients. We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate researcher with a strong scientific background in biocatalysis, a curious mind-set, and cultural agility to help inventing innovative medicines and advance the frontiers of drug discovery. Please note this position is written for Associate Director level - however we can hire at Director for those with more established careers with a track record of leadership experience.
Your responsibilities
What you will bring to the role
PhD degree in bioorganic chemistry or related life science discipline with profound understanding of biocatalysis and at least 7+ years of industrial experience applying biocatalysis in drug discovery or development settings
Significant project and group leadership experience and a track-record of impact on multiple projects. An in depth understanding of applying enzymes to tackle complex synthetic challenges and providing invaluable guidance and solutions to address essential scientific queries to scientists in a broader drug discovery context
A mind-set of curiosity and openness to diverse thinking, with an enthusiasm to develop yourself and others
Excellent written and verbal communication and strong influencing skills, with an ability to present and discuss project strategies and challenges
Strong interest in novel technologies and science trends, such as data science and automation/miniaturization, and their application to drug discovery.
Aptitude to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment, demonstrating collaborative nature and ability to influence in a matrix organization
